|Dr. Yuvonne C. Brooks, is from Camden, NJ.
She won singing contests while in the Navy.
Uvon earned a Doctor of Education Degree, taught
for the Maricopa Community College District
and received a Building Excellence in Education
Award. Also, she is an author, motivational speaker
and conducts lecture-demonstrations about the blues
and its influence on contemporary music.

"Plugged and Unplugged" was the best
selling blues CD at Virgin Megastore,
Arizona Mills Mall, Tempe, AZ.

Chandler Symphony at
Gainey Ranch Golf Club in
Scottsdale, AZ. They appeared twice
at the Monterey Bay Blues Festival.
Recently, Uvon's trio was the headline
act at the Barrels & Blues Festival
in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Uvon and The Blues Nights perform an original theatrical show that presents
historical vignettes, blues, jazz, show tunes and original songs. Uvon skillfully
weaves music and catchy phrases in a high energy, hand-clapping toe-tapping,
interactive performance in which the audience is invited to participate.
The show is titled: Blues & Jazz Revue.
The Blues and Jazz Revue performances include: schools, colleges, libraries,
museums, theaters and dinner shows such as the one at Sun City Grand.
Also, Uvon performs at casinos, community centers, clubs and corporate events.
She presents specialty shows for Mardi Gras, Fourth of July, St. Patrick's Day, etc.
In 2005, a song co-written and recorded by Uvon began airing on
The King Biscuit Radio Show on KFFT, Helena, AR. This is the oldest blues
radio program in The United States. Uvon has opened for: Johnny Rivers,
Honeyboy Edwards, Robert Jr. Lockwood, Henry Gray, Alvin Youngblood Hart,
Billy Boy Arnold, Rudy Ray Moore, Cephas & Wiggans and others. She has
performed with: Long John Hunter, Chico Chism, Michael Burks and Paul de Lay,
just to name a few artists.
